Board of Directors

 

Joseph R. Bronson

Mr. Bronson has served as a director since May 2014. He is currently Principal of The Bronson Group, LLC, which provides financial and operational consulting services, and is a Strategic Advisor to Cowen & Co., a New York City based investment bank. He also serves on the boards of directors of Maxim Integrated Products, Inc., Jacobs Engineering Group Inc., SDC Materials, and Ryan Herco Flow Solutions. Prior to his affiliation at Cowen & Co., from May 2011 to March 2014, he was affiliated with GCA Savvian, LLC, as an Advisory Director. From January 2009 to March 2010, Mr. Bronson served as the Chief Executive Officer of Silicon Valley Technology Corporation, a private company that provides technical services to the semiconductor and solar industries. Prior to that, from August 2007 to October 2008, Mr. Bronson served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Sanmina-SCI, a worldwide contract manufacturer, and also served on Sanmina-SCI's board of directors from August 2007 to January 2009. Mr. Bronson holds a B.S. in accounting from Fairfield University and an M.B.A. in financial management from The University of Connecticut.

Marco Iansiti

Professor Marco Iansiti has been a member of the Board of Directors since November 2016. He currently serves as the David Sarnoff Professor of Business Administration and heads the Technology and Operations Management Unit and the Digital Initiative at Harvard Business School, where he has taught for twenty six years. Professor Iansiti is also currently the chairman of the board of directors of Keystone Strategy Inc., a consulting firm he co-founded, and a member of the board of directors at Module Q, a personal resource management application. Previously, from April 2014 through November 2016, he was a member of the board of AltX, a data platform and marketplace for alternative investments, and from May 2011 to March 2012, Professor Iansiti was a member of the board of Leonardo-Finmeccanica SpA, a global high-tech company in the aerospace, defense, and security sectors, which is publicly listed in Italy.  He holds an A.B. and Ph.D. in Physics from Harvard University.

Dr. John K. Kibarian

One of PDF's founders, Mr. Kibarian has served as President since November 1991 and has served as our Chief Executive Officer since July 2000. Mr. Kibarian has served as a director since December 1992. Mr. Kibarian received a BS ECE, MS ECE and PhD ECE from Carnegie Mellon University.

Dr. Kimon Michaels

Kimon Michaels, Ph.D., one of our founders, has served as Vice President, Design for Manufacturability since June 2007. Dr. Michaels served as Vice President, Field Operations for Manufacturing Process Solutions from January 2006 through May 2007, and has been a Director since November 1995. From March 1993 through December 2005, he served in various vice presidential capacities. He also served as Chief Financial Officer from November 1995 to July 1998. Dr. Michaels received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, an M.S. E.C.E. and a Ph.D. E.C.E. from Carnegie Mellon University.

Dr. Gerald Yin

Dr. Gerald Yin has served as AMEC Inc.’s chairman and CEO since the company was founded in 2004. After 14 years, AMEC became one of the leading semiconductor high-end equipment manufacturers in China. AMEC is now a rising star in the worldwide semiconductor equipment industry with its front-end plasma etch, advanced deep silicon/MEMS etch and MOCVD products running in production at more than 40 wafer fabs, including 7nm device production at world-leading foundries. The company is preparing to begin a 5nm pilot production program soon. In only one-and-a-half years, AMEC’s MOCVD product is replacing German and American tools and has won a dominant market share in China’s Blue LED industry. The company maintains more than 30% annual growth rate over the past five years, breaking 50% in the past two years. In a recent customer satisfaction survey conducted by VSLI Research, a leading U.S. semiconductor marketing company, AMEC won third place among the world’s semiconductor companies and second place among focused semi equipment companies.

Dr. Yin spent 20 years working in Silicon Valley, from 1984 to 2004. He led development of many successful plasma etchers introduced into the worldwide market, helping Lam Research, Applied Materials and Tokyo Electronics to gain etch market leading positions. He is one of the major leaders in plasma etch product development and commercialization. Dr. Yin holds 86 U.S. patents and more than 200 foreign patents.

Dr. Yin received his BS from the University of Science and Technology, China. After 10 years working in the petrochemical industry and Chinese Academy of Sciences, he pursued graduate studies in Physical Chemistry at Beijing University. He moved to the U.S. in 1980 and received Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from University of California (UCLA).
